Messages From the Students in Attendance:

USW Local 608,

I wanted to thank the Local for send me to the 2010 Grace Carroll Rocky Mountain Labor Schools first year.  The information gained will be most invaluable in our plight for survival as Trade Union in the United States today.

Labor History I was eye-opening to say the least with how harsh the history of Trade and Industrial Unions were in the fledgling independent nation.  I was not aware to what extent the industries and our government went to in trying to break-up the solidarity of its members.  And the songs that were used to convey their message were direct and heartfelt not to mention fun to learn and sing.

Labor Law, Union Steward I and Collective Bargaining It gives me ideas as to strategies we could benefit from in the upcoming negotiations including better insight as to what the negotiations committee is to encounter.  The text books are at the ready if you need a quick read.

Thanks also for the interaction with the instructors and students alike who have similar goals and aspirations for a more unified future.  I have made some great contacts to continue with for years to come.  They are sending me their web-site addresses to put on a links page for access by our members.  Solidarity crosses the bounds of trade and locations; let’s let it help up as a whole!

Thank you again, I hope it will allow me to be a better union activist and advocate.

 Jeff Welle.
