The Human Side
Even though Union issues are very prominent and important to us, we still have families, friends and a home life.  There are a lot of issues that confront and concern us that deal with the humanistic parts of our lives.  Here is the forum to communicate those issues, [physical and mental Health, terrorism, taxes, inflation, who's moving in to you neighborhood, your worries and fears], to your Union Sisters and Brothers.  Send in your stories, questions, ideas, or solutions to these or other topics that deal with our struggle to cope with the human side of our lives.

To All The Members of Locals 608 & 712:

Stories and news paper articles have made all of us very aware that there may be some concerns surfacing surrounding the conditions in our county run Jail facilities.  It is imperative that as members of our respective communities that we educate our selves on the facts surrounding these and other important issues within the communities we live in.  We have always been there to volunteer for various positions and functions within our communities and we have done so with the highest regard while respecting the integrity of those we serve and expect no less of our elected officials.

With this in mind once the facts are obtained we hope that each individual and their families will take the time to offer their comments to the respective County Office Holders.   Remember to get involved either now or in the election process and study the positions that are important to you and seek out the answers to the questions or positions that are offered through group surveys.  It is interesting to see how questions get answered depending on the make up of an audience.  A true representative to the people will offer their suggestions to all whom ask.  And if they truly care and or believe they have something to offer their idea should be the same regardless of whom they maybe talking to at any given time.  Guard well your rights in a democracy so as to never lose them.  Then use them with responsibility.                    Rian Van Leuven, Active Member, USW #608         (click my name to e-mail)
